St. Louis really is the complete getaway. There’s something for everyone in this bustling metropolis on the Mississippi River. St. Louis offers music, theatre, shopping and dining.
Once in St. Louis, you’ll find more free, major attractions than anyplace outside the nation’s capital, so make that close-to-home drive knowing there’s a good deal waiting for you at the end of the road. TravelSmart, the nation’s oldest consumer travel newsletter, named St. Louis one of its 10 Safest, Culturally Most Fascinating Cities in the U.S. for its diverse cultural and tourism activities.
The great Gateway Arch has been the region’s international symbol since it opened in 1965 to honor President Thomas Jefferson and the Louisiana Purchase. You can take a tram ride to the top of the Arch, watching the heart-stopping movie about the monument’s construction on a giant screen, visiting the Museum of Westward Expansion – an underground museum below the Arch – and enjoying special events on the grounds of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
Nearby, you can watch the reigning World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals take on their rivals at Busch Stadium, one of America’s newest ballparks where improved sightlines, more attractions and great dining are just some of the amenities of downtown’s newest landmark.
Every effort is made to gather the most recent information available, but please call to verify hours and days of operation at individual attractions before your visit.
